Core Text
English of Core Text: “And He placed him there” — there in the garden. And lest you say the garden and Eden are the same? Scripture states “And a river went out from Eden to water the garden” — thus the garden is distinct and Eden is distinct.
On the daf / in context: The Gemara distinguishes Gan from Eden itself; Eden is the larger region from which the river flows to water the garden.
Type of Learning: Custom (Gan distinct from Eden)
What Is Learned: The garden and Eden are two distinct places; Eden is the source region of the river.
