English of Core Text: It was taught: A person should never enter his fellow’s house suddenly; and every person should learn proper conduct from the Holy One, blessed be He, who stood at the entrance of the garden and called to Adam, as it is said “And the Lord God called to the man.”
On the daf / in context: God’s announcement before addressing Adam is the model for not entering another’s domain without warning.
Type of Learning: Custom (derech eretz of announcing oneself)
What Is Learned: One must not enter another’s house abruptly; God Himself called from the entrance before speaking to Adam.
