Core Textאָמַר רֵישׁ לָקִישׁ: וּכִי סֵפֶר הָיָה לוֹ לְאָדָם הָרִאשׁוֹן? אֶלָּא מְלַמֵּד שֶׁהֶרְאָה לוֹ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא לְאָדָם הָרִאשׁוֹן דּוֹר דּוֹר וְדוֹרְשָׁיו, דּוֹר דּוֹר וַחֲכָמָיו.
English of Core Text: Reish Lakish said: Did Adam the first man have a book? Rather, this teaches that the Holy One, blessed be He, showed Adam the first man each generation and its expounders, each generation and its sages.
