בָּאָדָם דָּמוֹ יִשָּׁפֵךְ — בָּאָדָם: עַל יְדֵי אָדָם, כְּלוֹמַר עַל יְדֵי בֵּית דִּין.

English: “By man shall his blood be shed” — “by man” means through the agency of man, i.e., through a court of justice.
