וַתְּהִ֨י רֵאשִׁ֤ית מַמְלַכְתּוֹ֙ בָּבֶ֔ל וְאֶ֖רֶךְ וְאַכַּ֣ד וְכַלְנֵ֑ה בְּאֶ֖רֶץ שִׁנְעָֽר׃

The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

בָּבֶל וְאֶרֶךְ וְאַכַּד וְכַלְנֵה — בָּבֶל כְּמַשְׁמָעָהּ, אֶרֶךְ זֶה אוּרִיכוּת, אַכַּד זֶה בַּשְׁכָּר, כַּלְנֵה זֶה נוֹפֶר נִינְפֵי.

English: Babel is as its plain meaning; Erech is Urikut; Akkad is Bashkar; Calneh is Nofar-Ninfe.
