Torah Temimah points to the teaching that the generation of the Dispersion has no share in the World to Come (Sanhedrin 107b / 109a).

English: “And Hashem scattered them” — The generation of the Dispersion has no share in the World to Come, as it is said “Hashem scattered them from there”… and it is written “and from there Hashem scattered them” — one scattering in this world, and one for the World to Come.
