English: The reason it does not begin “And Hashem said to Avram after…” in the usual way is to indicate that once Scripture recorded “separate, please” and he separated the wicked from himself, Scripture adds that Hashem too had been sitting and waiting.
Context: The timing of the promise is deliberate: only after the separation from Lot does the full land grant come.
