וַתֹּאמַ֕רְןָ אִ֣ישׁ מִצְרִ֔י הִצִּילָ֖נוּ מִיַּ֣ד הָרֹעִ֑ים וְגַם־דָּלֹ֤ה דָלָה֙ לָ֔נוּ וַיַּ֖שְׁקְ אֶת־הַצֹּֽאן׃

They answered, “An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds; he even drew water for us and watered the flock.”

English: “An Egyptian man” — \ldots Moshe appeared to them as an Egyptian.

On the midrash / in context: The daughters identify their rescuer by his dress or speech; the midrash notes the irony that the future redeemer of Israel is first seen as an Egyptian.
