תִּכְבַּ֧ד הָעֲבֹדָ֛ה עַל־הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים וְיַעֲשׂוּ־בָ֑הּ וְאַל־יִשְׁע֖וּ בְּדִבְרֵי־שָֽׁקֶר׃

Let the work be heavy upon the men and let them do it, and let them not turn to words of falsehood.

ואל ישעו בדברי שקר — אלו דברי משה ואהרן.

English: “And let them not turn to words of falsehood” — these are the words of Moshe and Aharon.

On the midrash / in context: Pharaoh labels the promise of redemption as sheker; the midrash preserves the irony that the “falsehood” was the true word of God.
