וַיִּקַּ֨ח עַמְרָ֜ם אֶת־יוֹכֶ֤בֶד דֹּֽדָתוֹ֙ ל֣וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֔ה וַתֵּ֣לֶד ל֔וֹ אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹ֖ן וְאֶת־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וּשְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י עַמְרָ֔ם שֶׁ֧בַע וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָֽה׃

Amram took to wife his father’s sister Jochebed, and she bore him Aaron and Moses; and the span of Amram’s life was 137 years.

את יוכבד דודתו — דודתו מן האב אבל לא דודתו מן האם.

English: “Yocheved his aunt” — his aunt from the father but not his aunt from the mother.

On the daf / in context: Before Matan Torah the restriction on a paternal aunt did not yet bind in the same way; the midrash clarifies the precise kinship so that the marriage is not read as a later prohibition.
