English: “A soul” — his offering, and not a partnership.
Ribbui u-mi’ut (inclusion and exclusion) from the unusual word nefesh (instead of adam or ish).
Unlike freewill animal offerings, which may be brought in partnership, a freewill meal-offering is brought by a single person. The word nefesh (singular “soul”) teaches that partnership is excluded for the minchah.
