וכלי חרס אשר תבשל בו ישבר — כלי חרס שנבלע בו מטעם החטאת טעון שבירה. ואם בכלי נחשת בשלה מרק ושטף במים — כלי מתכת די לו במריקה ושטיפה. כל זכר בכהנים יאכל אתה קדש קדשים היא — נאכלת לזכרי כהונה במקום קדוש.

“An earthenware vessel in which it is boiled shall be broken” — an earthenware vessel that has absorbed the taste of the chatas must be broken. “And if it is boiled in a copper vessel, it shall be scoured and rinsed in water” — a metal vessel requires only scouring and rinsing. “Every male among the Kohanim may eat it; it is most holy” — it is eaten by male Kohanim in a holy place.

The classical sources distinguish the treatment of vessels according to material: earthenware that absorbs must be broken, while metal can be purged. The same verse confirms that the chatas is eaten only by male Kohanim and is kodshei kodashim.
