Sifra / Torath Kohanim on 8:3; classic midrashic tradition of “the lesser containing the greater.”

Core Text

Core Text

Translation: “Assemble the entire congregation at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting” — this is one of the places where the lesser (space) contained the greater (number of people).

In Sifra / midrash: The entire assembly standing at the entrance of the Ohel Moed is cited as a miracle of spatial capacity — the small place held the multitude.

Middah: Custom (aggadic observation on the wording).
