נָשֹׂ֗א אֶת־רֹ֛אשׁ בְּנֵ֥י גֵרְשׁ֖וֹן גַּם־הֵ֑ם לְבֵ֥ית אֲבֹתָ֖ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃

Take a census of the Gershonites also, by their ancestral house and by their clans.

English: “Take a census of the sons of Gershon” — \ldots they too [are assigned] to the burden.

On the midrash / in context: Gershon receives the fabrics and coverings; the census at service age parallels that of Kehas.

Chazal place the Gershonite service census alongside the Kehasite count.
