Type of Learning

Custom (A chronological calculation based on the mourning period and the date of the crossing of the Jordan.)

What Is Learned

From the thirty days of mourning, the three days of preparation under Yehoshua, and the date of the crossing on the tenth of Nisan, the Sages reverse-calculate that Moshe’s death occurred on the seventh of Adar. The same date is also the date of his birth, completing the exact measure of his years.
