Core Textתֹּהוּ וָבֹהוּ וְחֹשֶׁךְ עַל פְּנֵי תְהוֹם וְרוּחַ אֱלֹהִים מְרַחֶפֶת עַל פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם — מִכָּאן שֶׁתֹּהוּ וָבֹהוּ, חֹשֶׁךְ, רוּחַ וּמַיִם כֻּלָּם בְּיוֹם רִאשׁוֹן נִבְרְאוּ.
English of Core Text: “Tohu and bohu and darkness upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God hovering upon the face of the waters” — from here [we learn] that tohu and bohu, darkness, spirit and water were all created on the first day.
