Core Text

Core Text
English of Core Text: If one erred and did not pray the evening prayer, he prays the morning prayer twice, because it is one day, as it is written “and there was evening and there was morning, one day.”
On the daf / in context: The sugya of make-up prayers (tashlumin) uses the unity of the evening-morning cycle to permit making up the missed Maariv during Shacharis of the same day-unit.
Type of Learning: Custom (halachic day unit for tashlumin)
What Is Learned: Evening and morning form a single day; therefore a missed Maariv may be made up the following morning.
