English of Core Text: Rabbi Yitzchak said in the name of Rabbi Ammi: Once a male comes into the world, peace comes into the world. “Zachar” — this is “kar” (a tribute/gift), as it is written “Send a lamb (kar) to the ruler of the land.”
On the daf / in context: A notarikon-style derasha linking the birth of a male child with the arrival of peace/tribute language.
Type of Learning: Custom (notarikon of zachar)
What Is Learned: The birth of a male is associated with the arrival of peace, via the reading of “zachar” as “kar.”
