Core Textאָמַר רַבִּי יִצְחָק אָמַר רַבִּי אַמֵּי: בָּא זָכָר לָעוֹלָם בָּא כִּכְרוֹ בְּיָדוֹ. זָכָר — זֶה כַּר... נְקֵבָה — נְקִיָּה בָּאָה, עַד דְּאָמְרָה מְזוֹנִי לָא יָהֲבִי לַהּ.
English of Core Text: Rabbi Yitzchak said in the name of Rabbi Ammi: When a male comes into the world, his loaf comes in his hand... A female — she comes clean (empty-handed); until she says “Give me food,” they do not give her.
