TT #36 · Parashas Noach · Third Aliyah · Passuk 8:19
Every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that stirs on earth came out of the ark by their families.
Torah Temimah points to the dialogue of Eliezer with Shem (Sanhedrin 108b).
E-Daf image — Sanhedrin 108b (size=3)
English: “By their families they went out” — Eliezer said to Shem the Great: “It is written ‘by their families they went out’; where were you?” He replied: “We had great hardship in the ark… we fed each creature according to its day or night schedule.”
Custom (aggadic dialogue illustrating the hardship of the ark year).
The year in the ark involved continuous, species-specific care; the orderly exit “by families” reflects that care.
