TT #40 · Parashas Noach · Third Aliyah · Passuk 8:21
Hashem smelled the pleasing aroma, and Hashem said to Himself: “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, for the inclination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I ever again destroy every living being, as I have done.”
Torah Temimah points to Eruvin 65b (R’ Chanina — one who is appeased by wine).
E-Daf image — Eruvin 65b (size=3)
English: “And Hashem smelled” — R’ Chanina said: Whoever is appeased by his wine has something of the character of his Creator, as it is said “Hashem smelled the pleasing aroma and said… I will not continue to curse.”
Custom (character trait derived from the divine response to the aroma).
Being easily appeased (especially over wine) reflects a divine attribute.
