English: “And he shall lean his hand” – his own hand, not the hand of his servant, not the hand of his agent, and not the hand of his wife.
Emphasis on personal responsibility in the act of semichah — the owner himself must perform the leaning of the hands.
The owner of the offering must perform the leaning himself; the mitzvah cannot be delegated. This teaches that true identification with the korban and the process of atonement requires one’s own direct involvement.
