רַבִּי חֲנִינָא בֶּן גַּמְלִיאֵל אוֹמֵר: הַמַּרְחֶשֶׁת עֲמֻקָּה וּמַעֲשֶׂיהָ רַכִּין; מַחֲבַת שְׁטּוּחָה וּמַעֲשֶׂיהָ קָשִׁין.
English: R’ Chanina ben Gamliel says: The marcheshes is deep and its products are soft; the machavas is shallow and its products are hard.
On the daf / in context: The sugya distinguishes the two pan types named in 2:5 and 2:7. Our passuk’s “marcheshes” is the deep pan whose dough stays soft.
