Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “And you shall bring the mincha” — teaches that the entire mincha requires hagashah, not only the kometz.

On the daf / in context: One might have thought that only the fistful brought on the altar needs bringing-near. The full phrase includes the whole offering in the hagashah requirement. The derasha also extends the rule from nedavah to obligatory menachos where the verse structure supports it.

Type of Learning

Custom (diyuk from “the mincha” as a whole).

What Is Learned

Hagashah applies to the entire meal-offering, not only to the kometz portion.
