Core Text
English: “And he shall bring it near” — juxtaposed to “and he shall present it”: hagashah is compared to presentation — just as presentation by the kohen is in a service vessel, so is hagashah in a service vessel.
On the daf / in context: The hekesh teaches that the kohen need not push the flour itself against the altar; bringing the vessel so that its contents meet the altar area satisfies hagashah.
Type of Learning
R’ Yishmael #3 / related (hekesh) — juxtaposition of hagashah and hakravah.
What Is Learned
Hagashah, like presentation, is performed by the kohen with the mincha in a service vessel.
