English: “From the meal-offering” — excluding [a case] where it was diminished (between kemitzah and burning), excluding where nothing of its frankincense was burned.
In Sifra: The remainder must still be “of the meal-offering” as a recognizable whole process. Loss of volume between taking the handful and burning it, or total failure to burn levonah, takes the case out of the simple grant of shirayim.
Type of Learning
R’ Eliezer #2 (מיעוט) — “from the meal-offering” as a limiting phrase.
What Is Learned
Shirayim are tied to a mincha that still stands as the offering’s remainder after a proper process — not to a diminished or frankincense-less shell.
