And that which is left of the meal-offering shall be Aharon’s and his sons’; it is most holy of the fire-offerings of Hashem.

Source

Sifra (Toras Kohanim) on le-Aharon u-le-vanav (parallel to the teaching on 2:3; re-applied here).

The Midrash (longer context)

Core Text

English: “For Aharon and for his sons” — for Aharon first, and afterward for his sons; for Aharon without [equal] division, and for his sons with division. Just as Aharon the Kohen Gadol eats without division, so his sons who are kohanim gedolim eat without division.

In Sifra / classic application: The High Priest takes a portion first as he wishes; ordinary kohanim share equally. A later High Priest among “his sons” has the same non-division privilege.

Type of Learning

Custom (ordered reading of “Aharon and his sons” + comparison for future high priests).

What Is Learned

Distribution of mincha remainders: Kohen Gadol first and without lottery-style division; other kohanim by equal shares.
