Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “And if one soul sins through error from among the people of the land” — an individual who sinned inadvertently brings a female goat or a ewe.

On the daf / in context: Opens the individual chatas section after the anointed, communal, and nasi cases. “One soul… from the people of the land” marks the ordinary person (not nasi, not Kohen Gadol).

Type of Learning

Custom (section marker — individual vs officers).

What Is Learned

An ordinary individual who sins inadvertently brings a female goat or sheep as chatas.
