Core Text of Chazal
Core Text
English: “For it is a chatas” — therefore he shall not put oil and frankincense, so that his offering not be made ornate.
On the daf / in context: The reason clause marks this flour as penitential, not celebratory. The same flour measure used for other menachos is stripped of the usual enhancements.
Type of Learning
Custom (reason clause → form of the offering).
What Is Learned
Chatas-flour is kept plain: no oil, no frankincense — it is not a gift of celebration.
