You shall consign the images of their gods to the fire; you shall not covet the silver and gold on them and keep it for yourselves, lest you be ensnared thereby; for that is abhorrent to the ETERNAL your God.

English: Whence that a non-Jew nullifies his own idol? R’ Yochanan said: as it is written, “You shall not covet the silver and gold on them and take it for yourself” — you may not covet and take, but others may covet and you may take. That is: you cannot nullify a non-Jew’s idol, but when the non-Jew covets the silver and takes it (nullifying the idol), you may benefit from it.
