ואתפש בשני הלחת. א"ר יוחנן, אין הקב"ה משרה שכינתו אלא על גבור ועשיר וחכם ועניו, וכולם ממשה, גבור – דכתיב ואתפוש בשני הלחות ואשליכם מעל שתי ידי ואשברם, ותניא, הלוחות ארכן ששה ורחבן ששה ועוביין שלשה מקודם אחזן בידו אחת וכשהיה צריך לשברם אחזן בשתי ידיו כדי להשליכן בכח כדי שישברו בהשלכה זו, וזה מורה על גבורתו ששברן בהשלכה בעלמא אף שהיו עבים כמבואר. ובעיקר דרשה זו ותכונתה ובאורה עיין מש"כ בפ' בהעלותך בפסוק והאיש משה ענו מאוד, יעו"ש באור נכון ונאמן וראוים הדברים להצטרף לכאן.
English: R’ Yochanan said: The Holy One rests His Presence only on one who is strong, wealthy, wise, and humble — and all of these from Moshe. Strong: as it is written “I seized the two tablets and threw them from my two hands and smashed them.” A baraita: the tablets were six by six by three; at first he held them in one hand, and when he needed to smash them he held them in two hands to throw them with force so they would break. That shows his strength.
