English: It was taught: How wide is a furrow? One tefach — as it is written “and you water it with your foot like a vegetable garden.” How much is a foot? One tefach. The language of watering with the foot implies walking around the plot with a load of water; the measure of that path is a tefach. Practical import: for kilayim, R’ Yehudah requires a separation the width of a furrow (a tefach) between rows of different vegetables.
