אם שמע תשמעו. מה ת"ל אם שמע תשמעו, ללמד שאם שמע אדם מצוה אחת משמיעין אותו מצות הרבה מדייק כפל הלשון שמע תשמעו, ודריש אם שמע – אם כבר שמעת תשמע עוד, והוא ע"ד המאמר יהיב חוכמתא לחכימין, ומכוונת דרשה זו כלפי הדרשה בפ' זו לעיל (ח' י"ט) והיה אם שכח תשכח, אם שכח אדם מצוה אחת משכחין אותו מצות הרבה, וכאן אמר ההיפך בשמיעה, ועיין מש"כ לעיל בפ' הנזכר.

English: What is meant by “if you listen, you will listen”? To teach that if a person hears one mitzvah, they cause him to hear many mitzvot. The doubled language: if you have already heard, you will hear further — parallel to “He gives wisdom to the wise.” This is the inverse of “if you forget, forgetting” (8:19): forgetting one leads to forgetting many; hearing one leads to hearing many.
