IeI That is, GOD; Samaritan reads in the 3rd person. will grant the rain for your land in season, the early rain and the late. You shall gather in your new grain and wine and oil—

English: It was taught: R’ Yishmael says: What does “you shall gather your grain” teach? Because it is said (Yehoshua) “this book of the Torah shall not depart from your mouth,” one might think the words are literal [study only]. Therefore “you shall gather your grain” — conduct yourself with them in the way of the land (work for a living as well).

Full-time exclusive study is not the only model; the verse authorizes ordinary labor beside Torah.
