Sifrei Devarim 301 (parallel expansions of the Exodus formula)

Core Text

English: “With a strong hand” — this is the pestilence. “And with an outstretched arm” — this is the sword. “And with great awe” — this is the revelation of the Shechinah. “And with signs” — this is the staff. “And with wonders” — this is the blood.

In Sifrei: Each element of the classic Exodus formula is given a concrete referent drawn from the plagues and the departure. The declaration is thereby a compressed review of the mighty acts themselves.
