English: “Cursed be one who misleads a blind person on the way” — one who is blind (inexperienced) in a matter and to whom one gives bad advice.
Custom (An expansive reading of “ivver” that includes any person lacking knowledge in a particular area, so that giving harmful counsel is itself a form of the prohibited act.)
The prohibition is not limited to physical blindness. Anyone who is “blind” to the consequences of a decision must not be deliberately misled. The public Amen therefore commits every member of the nation never to exploit another’s ignorance.
