Core Text

Core Text
English of Core Text: Rabbi Elazar said: Any man who has no wife is not a [complete] man, as it is said “male and female He created them, and He called their name Adam.”
On the daf / in context: The joint naming “Adam” only after both male and female are present teaches that a man without a wife lacks full human status.
Type of Learning: Custom (man without wife is incomplete)
What Is Learned: A man is called “Adam” fully only when male and female are together; without a wife he is incomplete.
