Parashas Shemos
וַתֹּ֧אמֶר לָ֣הּ בַּת־פַּרְעֹ֗ה הֵילִ֜יכִי אֶת־הַיֶּ֤לֶד הַזֶּה֙ וְהֵינִקִ֣הוּ לִ֔י וַאֲנִ֖י אֶתֵּ֣ן אֶת־שְׂכָרֵ֑ךְ וַתִּקַּ֧ח הָאִשָּׁ֛ה הַיֶּ֖לֶד וַתְּנִיקֵֽהוּ׃
And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child and nurse it for me, and I will pay your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed it.
Torah Temimah points to R’ Chama bar Chanina — Sotah 12b (verified).
ואני אתן את שכרך — א״ר חמא ב״ר חנינא: לא דיין לצדיקים שמחזירים להם אבידתם אלא שנותנין להם שכרן.
English: “And I will give your wage” — R’ Chama bar Chanina said: It is not enough for the righteous that their lost [property] is restored to them; they are also given their wage.
Custom
Chazal teach that the righteous receive both the return of what was lost and additional reward.
