Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “And he shall bring it to the sons of Aharon” — kemitzah applies to men and not to women… the sons of Aharon, and not the daughters of Aharon.

On the daf / in context: The mishnah lists kemitzah among services limited to male kohanim. The Gemara anchors that list in bnei Aharon in this passuk (and parallel phrases elsewhere).

Type of Learning

R’ Eliezer #2 (מיעוט) — “sons” excludes daughters for kemitzah.

What Is Learned

Only male kohanim perform kemitzah; women (even daughters of kohanim) do not.
