Core Text

English: From when may the remnants be eaten? From when the kometz has been offered — as it is written “and the kohen shall cause it to smoke,” and afterward “and the remainder… for Aharon and his sons.”

On the daf / in context: Juxtaposition of the end of 2:2 (haktarah of the azkarah) with 2:3 (remainder for the kohanim) sets the moment the shirayim become permitted: only after the kometz is on the fire.

Type of Learning

Custom (juxtaposition / sequence of passukim).

What Is Learned

Kohanim may eat the leftover mincha only after the kometz has been burned on the altar.
