מֵאַחַת מֵהֵנָּה… אַחַת — אֵינוֹ חַיָּב עַד שֶׁיַּעֲשֶׂה מְלָאכָה שֶׁכְּיוֹצֵא בָּהּ מִתְקַיֶּמֶת.
English: “From one of them… one” — one is not liable unless he performs a labor of a type that endures.
On the daf / in context: Resolves “from one” (partial act might count) vs “one” (complete act): liability only when the act is a lasting, recognizable unit of melachah (e.g. two letters that form a word, not a single meaningless stroke).
