You shall consign the images of their gods to the fire; you shall not covet the silver and gold on them and keep it for yourselves, lest you be ensnared thereby; for that is abhorrent to the ETERNAL your God.

Sefaria — Avodah Zarah (R’ Akiva / R’ Yishmael)
English: From “the graven images of their gods you shall burn with fire” — a non-Jew’s idol is forbidden immediately upon being carved, even before it is worshipped (R’ Akiva). R’ Yishmael holds it is not forbidden until it is worshipped. The verse is also used regarding a non-Jew’s ability to nullify his own idol so that an Israelite may benefit from it.
