You must not bring an abhorrent thing into your house, or you will be proscribed like it; you must reject it as abominable and abhorrent, for it is proscribed.
English: “You shall not bring an abomination into your house,” and it is written (Mishlei 16:5) “An abomination to Hashem is every haughty heart.” From here R’ Yochanan said in the name of R’ Shimon ben Yochai: Anyone who has arrogance of spirit is as if he worships idols. (R’ Yochanan in his own name: as if he denies the fundamental principle, from “and your heart grows haughty and you forget Hashem.”)
On the daf / in context: Sotah 4b.
