Parashas Eikev · Passuk 8:10
When you have eaten your fill, give thanks to the ETERNAL your God for the good land given to you.
Torah Temimah points to Yerushalmi Berakhot 7:1 / Berakhot 48b.
TT lemma: וברכת את ה' וגו' (unit 12 of 14).
Sefaria — Yerushalmi Berakhot 7:1 / Berakhot 48b
English: It was taught: R’ Yishmael says: “And you shall bless” — this is the zimmun blessing; “Hashem your God” — this is “Who sustains all”; “on the land” — this is the blessing of the land; “the good” — this is the blessing of rebuilding Jerusalem; “that He gave you” — this is “HaTov veHaMetiv.” (“The good” as Jerusalem rests on “this good mountain” in Vaetchanan.) This mapping also appears in the Bavli; the Yerushalmi form is more orderly.
Custom (mapping the verse onto the four blessings of Birkat HaMazon)
