את ה'. את – לרבות ברכה לבעל הבית זה הוא סמך למה דקיי"ל בברכות מ"ו א' דאם יש אורח בסעודה מברך הוא כדי שיברך לבעה"ב, ומסמיך זה על לשון את דנדרש בעלמא לענין טפל כמו בב"ק מ"א ב' את בשרו לרבות הטפל לבשרו ומאי ניהו עורו, ואף הכא הברכה לבעה"ב היא בערך טפלה לברכה להקב"ה, יען כי גם טובו של בעה"ב מהקב"ה בא. ועיין באו"ח סי' ר"א ס"א מנוסח הברכה וכעת נוהגין שזוכרין ענין זה בברכות הרחמן הוא יברך את בעה"ב וכו', ותימא שאין אומרים הברכה כנוסחתה בגמרא.

English: “Et Hashem” — the word et includes a blessing for the host. This supports the practice that a guest leads the blessing so that he may bless the ba’al ha-bayit. Et often includes something secondary (as in “et besaro” including the skin); the host’s blessing is secondary to the blessing of God, for the host’s goodness also comes from God. Today this is commonly expressed in the HaRachaman passages for the host.
