It is a land that the ETERNAL your God looks after, on which the ETERNAL your God always keeps an eye, from year’s beginning to year’s end.

English: On the first of Tishrei is the New Year for years — for what law? Rav Nachman bar Yitzchak said: for judgment, as it is written “from the beginning of the year to the year’s end”: from the beginning of the year it is judged what its end will be. That this is Tishrei: “Sound the shofar at the new moon, at the covering for the day of our festival” — a festival when the moon is covered is Rosh Hashanah — and “for it is a statute for Israel, a judgment of the God of Yaakov.” (Some note “mereshit” defective spelling as a hint to Tishrei.)
