English: “And He brought us to this place” — in the merit of our coming to this place He gave us this Land.

In Sifrei: The midrash reads successive phrases of the declaration or the curse, assigning each a concrete referent or legal implication drawn from the surrounding narrative or parallel verses.

Type of Learning

Custom (A teaching from the order of the phrases: the arrival at the sacred place is presented as the merit that brings the gift of the Land.)

What Is Learned

Chazal teach that the sequence in the verse links the approach to the Temple site with the gift of the Land itself — the spiritual center and the territorial inheritance are bound together.
